Dream Big Read BWSummer is here, so that means it is time for Summer Reading Club at the Warren Public Library!

Summer Reading Club runs from June 16 – August 4. This year, there are clubs for babies (0-2 years), children (2- 11 years), teens (12 – 17 years) and adults. All you have to do is register at any Warren Public Library branch and turn in reading forms throughout the summer. Grand prizes include Amazon Kindles (courtesy of Art Van Furniture) and VTech V.Readers for children. Steve Hamilton, author of the Alex McKnight series of mysteries set around the Upper Peninsula town of Paradise, will be returning to the Warren Public Library’s Civic Center Library on Saturday, July 7 at 2 p.m. to discuss his latest novel, Die a Stranger.

Die a Stranger is the 9th book in the Alex McKnight series. Publisher’s Weekly calls it  “masterful” and that “every word counts”.  Previous novels in the Alex McKnight series have been called “excellent” by Booklist, and “ingenious” by Kirkus Reviews.

Linda Castillo, New York Times bestselling author of the Kate Burkholder series of Amish thrillers, will be visiting the Warren Public Library’s Civic Center Library on Tuesday, June 26 at 12 p.m. to discuss her latest novel, Gone Missing.

Gone Missing is the 4th book in the Kate Burkholder series. Publisher’s Weekly calls it an “exciting” read that “ratchets up the tension”.  RT Book Reviews says it’s  “entertaining and suspensful”. The BrodartVibe Blog calls it “satisfying on all fronts: lots of action, strong character development, and solid plotting”.

WireToWire

Scott Sparling, author of the novel Wire to Wire, will be visiting the Warren Public Library on Wednesday, June 6 at 7 p.m. as part of the Michigan Notable Book Authors Tour.

Wire to Wire assembles a cast of train-hopping, drug-dealing, glue-huffing lowlifes in a stunning homage to one of our most popular and enduring genres—the American crime novel.

Scott Sparling lives near the railroad tracks in Sucker Lake, Oregon, a place that might or might not exist. He grew up in Michigan and graduated from Antioch College in Ohio. He also runs segerfile.comWire to Wire is his first novel.
